Backwoods Trails
The average survival experience lasts three days. To negotiate that, you may need some sort of shelter that offers a windbreak to maintain you warm and dry, as well as drinking water to keep hydration, a fire starter, a back-up fire starter, and a mirror for signaling. Usually do not over-emphasize the usefulness of flares, strobes and flashlights.
A person may well perhaps spot them accidentally at night, but those intentionally searching for you is going to be searching in daylight.
A fire is much more useful. It is reassuring when you might be tired, panicky and cold. It can warm you up, melt snow to maintain you hydrated, or to treat a hypothermic victim with warm liquid. A fire could be a signaling device in the course of the day. Remember the energy of “3″ - 3 fires in a triangle, 3 columns of smoke, three whistles and 3 gunshots, are the international signal for distress.
Consume a minimum amount of two quarts of drinking water a day.
Hydration is incredibly essential in preventing hypothermia and in keeping the ability to think clearly. Bring along some jerky on your expedition.
