The gross objective of chess is to seize the king
The overall goal of chess is to seize the king of the opposing side, which if successful, will effectively end the fight (and game). To do so is to checkmate one’s opponent. Take Note that a game can also end in a stalemate, if it’s apparent that no true checkmate is feasible.
As said, a chess board comprises of 64 squares, which has been the case for greater than a thousand years now, dating back to the game’s origin with the Indian game Chaturanga. The rows are viewed as rank and the columns file. Ranks are numbered one to eight, while files are counted as a-f. Thus, every last square has its individual related name on the board.
